Audiences

An Audience is a named group of participants. Audiences exist so that a set of participants can be granted access to one or more Modules.

Audiences live under Admin Panel → Audiences and are only accessible to admins.

Creating an audience​

  1. Go to Admin Panel → Audiences.
  2. Click the + button to open the New Audience page.
  3. Enter a Name (required) and an optional Description.
  4. Click Create.

Opening an audience shows the modules it can access and the participants in it.

Use the pencil icon to rename the audience or edit its description, and the trash icon to delete it.

Linked modules​

The Linked Modules section lists the modules this audience can access.

  • Pick a module from the dropdown and click Link module to grant access.
  • Click Unlink next to a module to revoke it.

This is the same relationship shown on the module page - linking from either side has the same effect.

Members​

The Linked Members table lists the participants in the audience. Use the search box at the bottom of the page to find a participant by name and click Add member, or click Remove to take someone out of the audience.

A participant can belong to any number of audiences, and gets access to the union of all modules linked to those audiences.

Deleting an audience​

Deleting an audience removes its memberships and its links to modules. Users and teams themselves are not deleted, and neither are modules or challenges.

Members of the deleted audience immediately lose access to any module they could only reach through it. If a module had no other linked audiences, it becomes invisible to all non-admins.

Removing a single member, or unlinking a single module, revokes access immediately in the same way.

Visibility​

Audience membership only ever grants access to modules. It does not override challenge state, competition times, or the instance's visibility settings. Audience members cannot see hidden challenges, cannot access challenges before the CTF starts, and cannot bypass a challenge's Scheduled At time.
